Odrastajući u surovoj i divljoj Lici, Tesla je rano naučio poštovati prirodu i njene zakone. Jedne zime, blizu očeve crkve, sreo je vuka oči u oči. Umjesto panike, osjetio je duboko strahopoštovanje prema slobodi te životinje. Kasnije je pisao kako ga je suživot sa divljom ličkom prirodom naučio da čovjek nije gospodar planeta, već samo dio veličanstvenog prirodnog sklada.

Growing up in the harsh and wild Lika region, Tesla learned early on to respect nature and its laws. One winter, near his father's church, he came face to face with a wolf. Instead of panic, he felt a deep awe for the freedom of this animal. He later wrote that coexistence with the wild nature of Lika taught him that man is not the master of the planet, but only a part of the magnificent natural harmony.
